Kathy Strong is the Magazine Editor for The Desert Sun: Desert Magazine, 92260 and LQ magazine. She was formerly the custom publications editor for The Desert Sun. She has been a freelance travel writer for over 25 years, with over 20 published guide books on California, Oregon, Washington and the Caribbean. Strong is a contributor to many national magazines, specializing in travel and celebrity cover stories, topics she has covered for Desert Magazine locally for the past ten years. Strong is a southern California native who has resided in Palm Desert for 17 years. Her youngest son, Trevor, is a junior at UC Irvine and her oldest son, Brent, is an Imagineer for Disney. Kathy came to the desert from San Luis Obispo where she served as the city's Promotional Coordinator and began a children's museum and volunteered for 15 years on a city committee to restore a living history museum. Strong served on the City of Palm Desert Sister City Committee until spring 2003 and has been active in the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce and the La Quinta Chamber of Commerce.
